How to Celebrate July 4th, 2020 on Pawleys Island/Litchfield Beach

• Plan a Barbecue - fire up the grill and take in the aroma of a summer cookout and family fun. Burgers on the grill are sure to bring back memories of the past as well as making memories for the future. Our favorites for July 4th include baby back ribs, pulled pork, corn on the cob, and watermelon. Use your traditional favorites and family recipes, or try the already prepared dishes from the local grocery stores, or one of our many restaurants will prepare meals for curbside pick up.

• Spend the Day on the Beach - It will be a perfect day for the beach, weather permitting, and Low Tide will be 1:37 PM. Take plenty of water and drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. Settle into your favorite beach chairs and enjoy your family and friends for the celebration of July 4th. Don't forget to stay safe and practice Social Distancing!

• Salute from the Shore - While on the beach be sure to watch for the Salute from the Shore. The 11th Annual Salute from the Shore will begin, as always, at 1:00 PM on July 4th in Cherry Grove, SC, just north of Myrtle Beach. The F-18s and C-17s will fly south, all the way down the coastline to Bluffton, SC by 1:25 PM. Show your support for our troops and wave as they go by. The F-18s are expected at Pawleys Island at 1:06 PM, and the C-17s are expected at 1:14 PM.

• Kayak in the Creek - Bring your own kayaks, paddleboards, or rent them locally. Spend the day floating in the saltwater creeks, and explore the natural habitat of saltwater marshes. You'll most likely see shorebirds, crabs, and the occasional mullet or fish jumping out of the water. Floats and inner tubes work great for this saltwater adventure, too!

• Golf - Book a tee time at one of our local golf courses. Enjoy the outdoors and beautiful surroundings while showing off your best swings and putts.

• Fireworks - Local fireworks displays are canceled but we look forward to 2021, and feel it will be the best show ever!

• Parades - The Pawleys Island Parade has also been canceled, as well as the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade, but go ahead and make plans to participate in next year's parade, and make it a family tradition to compete for a trophy given out by the Mayor of Pawleys Island.
